One male in custody after RCMP descend on Cole Harbour High

RCMP have one person in custody following an alleged threat against a student at Cole Harbour District High School.

Police received a tip of a threat by one student against another student, RCMP spokesperson Corp. Jennifer Clarke said. The person who allegedly made the threat is in custody.

RCMP surrounded the perimeter of the school just before 9 a.m. Global News cameraman Cory McGraw arrived on scene within minutes of the RCMP and said some police blocked access to the property while at least two officers entered the building. One had his weapon out.

Roughly ten police cruisers are on scene, McGraw said.

Halifax Regional School Board says the lockdown has been lifted and students are safe. RCMP are still on site.

A board spokesperson confirms there was a fight between two students at the school earlier this week. There is no confirmation the two incidents are related.
