CALGARY – Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that happened in Sandstone Valley on Tuesday, and celebrating a bus driver who scared off the predator.
Investigators said the victim was getting off a bus near the intersection of Sandstone Drive N.W. and Berkshire Boulevard N.W. at around 10:45 p.m. when she was approached by a man she didn’t know.
The man spoke with the victim, and assaulted her when she tried to leave. Police said the suspect then forced the woman to the ground where he tried to sexually assault her.
An approaching bus scared the attacker, who ran off.
Bus driver Amandeep Hunjan called 911 and waited with the victim. She was taken to hospital in stable condition.
Investigators believe the attack was random.
They described the suspect as being between 18 and 20 years old, roughly 5’10” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a grey hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
