A 39-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following the death of a woman at a home in Surrey early Sunday morning, according to RCMP.
Sukhvir Badhesa has been charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and uttering threats.
RCMP said they received a report of a domestic disturbance at a home in the 10100-block of 128 Street just before 6 a.m. They arrived to find a woman in her 60s suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say early indications suggest the death followed an altercation between a male and females in the residence.
They also say a suspect from the scene was arrested.
Meanwhile shots were fired into another home Sunday just over a kilometre away.
Police responded to the area of 110 Avenue and 132 Street just before 7 a.m. and found shell casings around the home.
Police say no one in the house was injured and that the people who live there are known to police. Initial indications are this was a targeted shooting.
Bahesa will be appearing in Surrey Provincial Court on Monday at 1:30 p.m.
