Paul First Nation chief charged with assault

The chief of the Paul First Nation has been charged in connection with a fight that broke out at the band’s administration office on March 4, 2016.

RCMP said Casey Bird is facing one charge of assault after a verbal disagreement with another man escalated into a fight.

Police said the victim only suffered minor injuries.

Bird is scheduled to appear in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

The Paul First Nation is located near Wabamun, Alta., about an hour west of Edmonton.
