WATCH: Sisler Spartans and Vincent Massey Trojans advance to girls final at provincial basketball championships

WINNIPEG – The championship game is set at the AAAA Provincial Varsity Girls Basketball Championships.

In what was a rematch of last year’s final, the defending champion and top seeded Sisler Spartans easily disposed of the fourth ranked Oak Park Raiders once again. The Spartans moved on with a 79-53 win in the first semi-final match-up on Thursday at the University of Manitoba’s Investors Group Athletic Centre.

In the other semi-final on Thursday the second seeded Vincent Massey Trojans punched their ticket to the final. The Trojans defeated the sixth ranked Garden City Fighting Gophers 77-60 to advance to the championship game.

The boys’ semi-finals will be played tomorrow night. The first semi pits No. 1 seed John Taylor against the fifth seeded Fort Richmond Centurions. The other semi-final will see the defending boys’ champion Oak Park Raiders against the third ranked Garden City Fighting Gophers. The first semi-final begins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
