WINNIPEG – A powerful public forum on sexual exploitation in Manitoba starting Thursday morning is aiming to create change.
Activists, researchers and feminists will speak at the Winnipeg Sexually Exploited Youth Community Coalition beginning at 8 a.m at the Canad Inns Club Regent hotel.
A one day forum on sexual exploitation will feature the family of Tracia Owen, who was a victim of sexual exploitation and self harm as a ward of the child welfare system.

Owen committed suicide at just 14 years old in 2008.
Speakers at the event will share their stories and add to panel presentations on both profiling offenders and sexually exploited survivors.
The talks will address behaviors, patterns and psychology of perpetrators that fuel the industry demand.
This year’s theme for the forum is “survivors protecting sacred lives” and the goal is to end sexual exploitation in the province.
