WINNIPEG – If you’ve ever wondered how the coins in your wallet are made, The Royal Canadian Mint in Winnipeg can show you.

“This is where all of your pockey change comes from, Winnipeg is responsible for producing all of Canada’s circulation coinage,” Alex Reeves from The Royal Canadian Mint said.
Winnipeg’s Mint also produces coins for countries around the world that need the special technology used here.
“We have a capacity to produce up to 20 million coins a day,” Reeves said. “We produce tens of millions of coins for Canada in various denominations every year.”
Since 1976, the site has made coins for more than 80 international customers.
Visitors can tour The Mint from Tuesdays to Saturdays and can watch how the coins are made from the upstairs catwalk with a tour guide.
