EDMONTON- More than 18 months after he failed to appear in court on second-degree murder charges, Edmonton police said Gordon Shaw, 61, was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant in British Columbia on Monday.
Shaw was charged in connection with the murder of 70-year-old Robert Anderson of Edmonton in May 2011. He was arrested in Port Alberni, B.C. in August of that year but failed to show up for a scheduled court date a month later.
Police said homicide investigators believed Shaw was living in Chase, B.C. under the pseudonym “Bob Stenton.” They also determined he was working as a handyman and had an ad in the local newspaper for “Bob the Builder.”

Police said Shaw was arrested in Chase on Monday by Kelowna RCMP officers before appearing in a Kamloops courtroom on Tuesday.
He is now in police custody and will be transferred to Edmonton to face trial.
Edmonton police officers found Anderson’s body in his home at 65 Street and 128 Avenue on May 31, 2011. Neighbours raised concerns after they didn’t see or hear from him for a number of days.
