SASKATOON – Canada’s first inner-city race car team launched Monday in Saskatoon with the intent of guiding at-risk youth and teaching respect. Members of the Saskatoon Police Service cadet program have been chosen to become the first “race for respect” Bandolero race car team of 2016.
The kids, who attend Princess Alexandra Community School, will take part in driving and maintaining the car at seven races at Wyant Group Raceway.

Saskatoon police Chief Clive Weighill believes this will be a great experience for these kids.
“Well, I think it’s a special day for the police service, but I think it’s a special day for our cadets,” said Weighill.
“And you know, I’m so proud we have sponsors like Crime Stoppers and the Wyant Group that will support our youth, especially in the inner city.”
“They would probably never have an opportunity to be driving a car like this or be part of the raceway.”
