Calgary police have charged a man in connection with a bizarre incident at a southwest seniors complex Monday.
Police were called to the complex in the 1500 block of 9 Street S.W. at about 7:20 a.m., after a window in a common area had been smashed from the outside.
A man left after he was confronted by staff.
It’s believed he helped himself to food and coffee in the common kitchen, and then went into several apartments, taking cellphones, wallets and purses.
Police said at one point he confronted a 90-year-old woman in one of the apartments and then stole her wallet.
The woman was unhurt but shaken.
Staff and tenants at the complex gave police a description of the man, who was known to them from a previous break and enter.
Officers patrolling in the area quickly found him and placed him under arrest.
Donald Murray Boychuck, 44, of no fixed address, is charged with three counts of break and enter to commit an offence and failing to comply with a probation order.
