A photo of Malia Obama giving her sister, Sasha, thumbs-up during a brief encounter with Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds last week has now gone viral.
Last week, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was honoured at the White House during an official state dinner.
During the star-studded event, White House photographer Pete Souza captured Sasha, 14, mid-conversation with the Deadpool star as her 17-year-old sister is caught in the background giving a supportive thumbs-up.
Reynolds was among the Canadian star power to attend Thursday’s event, including Michael J. Fox, Mike Myers and Sandra Oh.

The Obama sisters, who were attending their first state dinner, sat with Reynolds and his wife actress Blake Lively.
During dinner speeches, Trudeau acknowledged the Obama sisters as he reminisced about his time as child while this father, Pierre, was prime minister.

“It’s also touching to meet Malia and Sasha, who are here at their first state dinner,” Trudeau said. “And quite frankly, the memories for me of being a kid and not being old enough to attend these kinds of events with my father almost makes me wish I had gone through my teenage years as a child of a world leader – but not quite.
“I admire you very much, both of you, for your extraordinary strength and your grace, through what is a remarkable childhood and young adulthood that will give you extraordinary strength and wisdom beyond your years for the rest of your life,” the prime minister said.
