CALGARY – A base jumper had to be rescued off of Ha Ling Peak this weekend.
According to Kananaskis Public Safety, it happened Saturday when the jumper experienced problems with the deployment of his parachute.

The chute opened, twisted and then threw the jumper into the north face of the mountain.
The chute then collapsed, causing the jumper to slide downwards until the fabric got hung up.
A pilot working for Alpine Helicopters had to do some fancy maneuvering before a safety specialist could get a heli-sling onto the man and get him to the chopper.
The base jumper was transported to Canmore General Hospital in stable condition with minor soft tissue injuries to his lower extremities.
