KELOWNA, B.C. – Airband 2016 packed the Kelowna Secondary School gym Thursday night as eight bands competed for the $500 first prize.
“This is a very popular event and the kids put a lot of work into it,” said KSS Rec Leadership teacher Fane Triggs.
KSS Airband is a 35 year tradition.
Students organize the event with the help of two teachers.
“We learn so much,” said Nina McGarvey, Airband 2016 organizer. “It’s a huge event, so a lot of organization skills.”
“It’s a great way to show the school if you have the courage, you can get on stage and do anything,” said Triggs.
KSS staff also got in on the antics, opening the show.
The ‘Below Average’ Grade 12 girls group won first prize.
