A wind warning has been issued for B.C.’s South Coast.

Global News senior meteorologist Mark Madryga says parts of the South Coast could see gusts ranging from 70 to 100 kilometres per hour on Wednesday night. Heavy rains are also expected.

BC Hydro spokesperson Simi Heer says workers are ready in case of power outages.

“In advance of storms like this we do look at locating at all possible resources…and making sure they’re positioned appropriately,” she said. “In this case, we’re sending crews in advance to some areas on the North Island and along the Sunshine Coast to ensure that they’re there and ready to respond if we do see extensive damage in that area.”
