Calgary police released surveillance footage Friday in the hopes of identifying and finding those responsible for hateful graffiti on Queensland schools earlier this month. The incidents targeting Syrian refugees and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are being investigated as hate crimes. RCMP is also investigating the “kill the traitor Trudeau” threats.
The graffiti was sprayed between Feb. 12 and Feb. 19, and appeared on Wilma Hansen Junior High School, Haultain Memorial Elementary School and the Queensland Community Association and Rink. One message calls for violence against Syrians and mosques and reads: “Syrians go home and die.”
At Haultain school, suspects broke two windows. At the rink, they targeted the south wall of the hall, a nearby utility trailer, and a large storage container, police said. On Feb. 18, windows were smashed at Wilma Hansen school, which was targeted twice with anti-Syrian and anti-Trudeau graffiti.
