Dozens of Burnaby residents got their chance to weigh in on the plan that could completely change the area around Lougheed Mall.
The vision is to turn the 29-hectare area into a pedestrian friendly neighbourhood with thousands of more condominiums over the next 30 years.
The proposal includes more than one million square meters of residential development, which could be an estimated 11,000 new housing units.

Opponents of the Lougheed project and those that supported it voiced their opinions to Burnaby City Council last night.
Some residents say they are concerned about gentrification, and the potential for increased traffic congestion, noise and overcrowded schools as more people move in.
Others are asking the council to consider lowering the height of the proposed condominium towers and ensure the city maintains green spaces and recreational facilities in the area.
Lougheed is the latest 1960’s era mall neighbourhood to undergo a potential transformation.
Brentwood Town Centre in Burnaby is already being redeveloped and Oakridge in Vancouver is going through a planning process.
