Pre-trial conference for two accused in mall mass shooting plot scheduled for Friday

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for today in the case of two young people accused of planning a mass shooting at a Halifax shopping mall.

Lindsay Souvannarath of Geneva, Illinois, and 21-year-old Randall Shepherd of Halifax are charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The Crown alleges the two had planned to attack the Halifax Shopping Centre last February.

Police have said their investigation started as the result of an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip, and they confirmed that a third suspect – 19-year-old James Gamble – had fatally shot himself in the Halifax suburb of Timberlea.
