WINNIPEG — An 18-year-old is in custody and faces multiple charges after attempting to rob a grocery store and attacking two employees.
Officers responded to the grocery store on the 400 block of Selkirk Avenue around 9:30 a.m.
An ongoing investigation revealed that the suspect arrived at the store and demanded cash and cigarettes of which he received an undisclosed amount. Two employees were injured in a struggle that began after the cash and cigarettes were handed over.

One of the employees was stabbed in the upper body and rushed to hospital in critical condition; he was later upgraded to stable. The second employee received minor injuries.
The employees managed to hold the suspect at the location until officers arrived.
The suspect has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and disguise with intent and assault.
He remains custody.
