According to workers at the scene, a flatbed truck was carrying a house earlier in the evening when its tires suddenly exploded as it was trying to cross some train tracks.
It happened near Balzac on Highway 566, the main road into the CrossIron Mills shopping mall.
Eventually, work crews were able to move the truck off the tracks and put new tires on it but workers said the house won’t be moved until 9 a.m. on Thursday morning at the earliest.
The obstacle could prove to be a commuter headache for drivers who use Highway 566 to drive into Calgary for work.
