WINNIPEG — If you’re hoping to get into the voyageur spirit on Louis Riel Day, here’s a helpful list of all the Festival du Voyageur events that you can attend on Monday.

Global News Green Screen Booth

Stop by the Global News booth from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Souvenir Tent. You can take a digital keepsake of your visit to the Festival du Voyageur and get your photo taken in a virtual Voyageur setting, using green screen technology.

Louis Riel Family Mosaic Unveiling

At 11:30 a.m. festival organizers unveiled a giant Louis Riel Family Mosaic, created by photos sent by Manitobans during the year. You can go see the the mosaic at the Fort Gibraltar walls.

Rendez-vous on the trail

From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. you can celebrate Louis Riel Day on the Red River Mutual Trail. There is free hot chocolate and activities for kids and parents to enjoy. Activities range from tug a war, canoe races and fish toss.

Wild Winter Canoe Demonstration Race

If you’re hoping to take in a canoe race in the winter, now is your chance. The Winter Canoe Race is held on a snow-packed 200-meter course. The only paddling required comes from your legs – one leg in the canoe, one leg out, then push hard to the finish line. The race takes places from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Winnipeg Contemporary Dancers Performance

Sara Riel: The Long Journey and Buffalo Pound Round Dance will take place at the Rachel Brown Theater at 8 p.m.

Saint-Boniface Museum

From 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., take in a plethora of information regarding Louis Riel’s life. Bring the whole family and take advantage of the campfire, interactive activities and gift shop discounts. Admission is free.
