LETHBRIDGE – The hunt is on for some pretty valuable game cards.

Lethbridge police say 450 Magic: The Gathering cards, worth approximately $10,000, were inadvertently left behind following a Magic the Gathering tournament at Kapow Comics on Jan. 22 and subsequently stolen.

The following day, police responded to a report of a man trying to sell some of the cards at Showcase Comics.  He fled before police arrived, but left behind 35 of the stolen cards.

Following further investigation, 33-year-old Michael Thomas Coates, of Lethbridge, was arrested and charged with theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property for the purpose of trafficking.

To date, only three dozen of the 450-card collection have been recovered.  Police are asking for help in finding the remaining cards, including speaking with anyone who may have conducted any transactions with the suspect involving the sale or trading of Magic the Gathering cards since Jan. 22.
