LETHBRIDGE – The Lethbridge Public Library hosted the “Cheers 4 Lethbridge” launch Monday morning, trying to promote a more involved city community.
“The idea is that you don’t have to give a big time commitment,” explained Terra Plato, Lethbridge Public Library CEO. “You can do things that you’re interested in, it just has to be four small things, it doesn’t have to be an ongoing thing.”
Ideas range anywhere from volunteering in the city to simply attending a local opera or play. An initiative such as this is new to the city, as even the campaign’s chairperson, Kathy Hopkins, readily admits she hasn’t always been active in this area.
The campaign also has support from the city, which has given it a $90,000 budget to use over the two years it plans to operate.
