Woman killed in highway crash near Rimbey

A 51-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 20 and Township Road 442 Sunday evening.

RCMP, EMS and Rimbey Fire and Rescue responded to the crash at around 6 p.m.

Officers said an eastbound truck didn’t stop at a stop sign and struck a northbound SUV.

The female driver of the SUV was killed. The truck driver, a 60-year-old man, was not injured.

The road was closed and police were on scene for approximately four hours investigating.

As of Tuesday morning, charges had not been laid.

The Victim Services Unit has been called in to support the woman’s family.

Rimbey is about 140 kilometres southwest of Edmonton.
