Alberta bus driver charged after colliding head on with SUV

LETHBRIDGE – A 64-year-old man has been charged after the school bus he was driving collided with an SUV.

A school bus with children on board was travelling northbound along 23 Street North at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday. The bus driver swerved to avoid a collision with a vehicle that had been stopped in the 1800 block. The bus crossed the centre line and entered the southbound lane and then collided head on with an SUV, police said.

Lethbridge Police have charged Ken Kissick, of Lethbridge, under the Traffic Safety Act, Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation, with driving left of the centre line. The penalty for the violation is $233.

The 67-year-old driver of the SUV was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

None of the children on the bus, or the bus driver, were injured.
