CALGARY – Appropriately named Gulliver, a cat that travelled across the country after hitching a ride on a semi-trailer will soon be available for adoption.
The three-year-old male stray sneaked onto a Bison Transport vehicle in Toronto a few weeks before Christmas and was discovered by staff in Calgary three days later.
The Bison employees kept the feline stowaway safe and warm at the Bison terminal before contacting the MEOW Foundation.
Officials with the Calgary cat charity say Gulliver is healthy and a good weight.
“Right away he was friendly,” Sandra Henry said. “He’s very, very laid back…very quiet, very polite.”
Staff gave Gulliver a warm bath and put him in a room by himself to rest.
“He was very, very dirty,” Henry said.
He will be available for adoption once he has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. However, it seems one of the cat lovers who found and cared for Gulliver has his eyes on the fearless feline; officials say he’s already expressed interest in adopting him.
