Rock band playing in theatre during Paris attacks coming to Edmonton

EDMONTON – A band that was playing in a Paris concert hall that became the site of a mass shooting is coming to Edmonton.

Eagles of Death Metal will perform at the Shaw Conference Centre Apr. 28. They will be joined by rock bands Death from Above and Turbowolf.

The tour was announced in a post on the band’s Facebook page.

The Canadian tour also includes stop in Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Montreal, Hamilton as well as some American cities.

Eagles of Death Metal was performing in Le Bataclan when several gunmen opened fire last year killing 89 people. All members of the band survived.

The militant group ISIS claimed responsibility for the concert hall attack along with five others across Paris on Nov. 13. In total, 130 people died.

“Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion,” the band said in a statement released after the attack.
