Woman dead after apparent medical emergency behind the wheel: Police

KELOWNA — A woman, believed to be in her 40s, is dead after a single vehicle crash in Kelowna Monday afternoon.

It happened in the 2600 block of Gordon Drive.

At this point in the investigation police believe the woman suffered some sort of medical emergency behind the wheel, but didn’t have any specific details.

Witnesses report the woman drove across the centreline into oncoming traffic, hit a small tree then hit a larger tree before the vehicle came to a stop.

Emergency crews performed CPR on the woman in the ambulance and at the hospital, but couldn’t revive her.

The woman was the only person in the car at the time of the crash.
