An Alberta couple was arrested on charges of writing over 40 bad cheques throughout the province.
Virginia Josephine Wallis, 38, and Daryl George Wallis, 40, are accused of getting over $33,000 worth of goods through the bad cheques.
The suspects, who are from the Calmar area, were allegedly involved in three Vegreville incidents dating back to Dec. 2015, and 23 separate incidents in towns from Olds to St. Paul, Alta. since Oct. 2015. Police said the two entered retail stores and bought between $200 and $700 worth of merchandise, writing cheques from accounts with insufficient funds.
Police said more offences were reported after the couple was publicaly identified earlier this week. RCMP expect the number of incidents and the total dollar amount to rise as they continue to investigate the case.
