Trial for Saskatoon mother accused of killing her son delayed

SASKATOON – The trial for a Saskatoon mother accused of killing her son in 2014 has been pushed back by a day. A Court of Queen’s Bench judge adjourned the proceedings until Tuesday.

The reason for the delay isn’t clear. Members of the gallery were asked to leave, as counsel and the judge discussed the defence’s motion to adjourn.

Kellie Johnson is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her five-year-old son, Jonathan Vetter.

Vetter was pronounced dead in his home in the 400-block of Avenue R South in the early morning hours of Jan. 4, 2014.

The trial, scheduled to begin Monday, was expected to last five days.
