MONTREAL – Police are searching for a man who allegedly stole over $35,000 by defrauding bank cards in taxis.
Officers claim he is either the accomplice of a taxi driver or the driver himself.
The man is linked to 13 separate events in the downtown core since November.
Police said he insisted passengers pay with their bank cards rather than cash.
While he completed the transaction, he would allegedly hand them back a fake card and use the real cards to make ATM withdrawals.
The man is of Middle-Eastern descent, around 35-years-old and measures around 5″9 with short, dark hair.
Montreal police are warning passengers to always handle their own cards during transaction.
Anyone with information on the man’s whereabouts is urged to call Info-Crime at 514-393-1133.
