Look out, Hollywood — there’s a new Depp in town.

Johnny Depp’s 15-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose, premiered her first feature film Yoga Hosers at Sundance on Sunday.

Depp, whose mother is Vanessa Paradis, appears opposite her famous father in the movie, which is directed by Kevin Smith (Clerks, Chasing Amy).

“It was incredible. I mean, I think that, you know, anything that you get to work with like friends and family is amazing and so, yeah. It was really fun and I’ve never seen him in like a professional like, setting or whatever. So, that was really fun, but mostly just being with people that I’ve known for so long and even people that I met on set or whatever. We all just got along really well. So, it was a really good experience.”

Smith describes Yoga Hosers as a “kids movie.”

“It spun out of this weird movie we made a couple of years ago with Justin (Long) called Tusk and the two girls — Harley and Lily — were in it, in one scene. So, I was like, well let me blow up the whole movie up out of those two girls and try and go on an adventure with them and it turned out well. It’s weird. It’s a kids movie but, you know, it’s full of Canadian Nazis and Satanists, but it’s definitely a kids movie.”

The “Harley” referenced in the soundbite is Smith’s daughter, Harley Quinn Smith. The 45-year-old New Jersey native says directing his daughter was “easy.”

“I directed her the same way I direct like, Justin (Long) or Jason Mewes or Bruce Willis or Ben Affleck. Like, shoot a take and then come over and then then we watch the monitor. We just watch it back and actors are pretty self-correcting. They want to look as good as possible. So, they’ll sit there and see the things that are artifice and fake and nobody is more conscious of how they look or come across than a 15-year-old girl. So I would just show them the monitor. I’d be like, ‘This is what we did. Watch it.’ They’d watch the playback and then go back and correct the things they wanted to.”

Yoga Hosers, which also stars Justin Long, Tyler Posey, Adam Brody and Natasha Lyonne, may mark Lily-Rose Depp’s first real film role, but the 15-year-old has three other films in the works.
