REGINA – High costs of tuition is something many students struggle with, but new funds announced today are expected to take off some of that financial burden.
Sask Polytechnic school is celebrating a $325,000 dollar cheque from Viterra.
The money will go towards 44 scholarships and bursaries a year, over the next ten years.
Scholarship awards will be provided at each campus locations to students in specified majors.

“In some cases, it makes the difference of them continuing or having to drop out,” said Sask Polytechnic President Dr. Larry Rosia.
“So these kinds of scholarships provide them with the incentive but also provides them with understanding and the belief that the industry believes in them, they’re investing in them, they believe in them”
Honourable Scott Moe, Ministry of Advanced Education, says the investment speaks to the partnerships between industry and academic institution.
“We can increase their accessibility to the programs they choose to do, and it’s a benefit to students but also a benefit to academic institution.”
“The benefit to industry is our students that come out of our institutions, they’re the leaders of tomorrow and our industries. It bodes well for the future of industry of Saskatchewan to be investing in those things”.
The school says it has a 93 per cent graduation employment rate.
