EDMONTON – A well-known inner city landlord is facing a number of charges after police executed a search warrant Christmas Eve.

Abdullah Shah, also known as Carmen Pervez, was arrested after police pulled over his vehicle and found drugs, evidence of trafficking and a weapon.

The arrest caused Edmonton police to search a business where they found more drugs and ammunition.

Pervez is facing a list of charges including possession of drugs with the purpose of trafficking. He was released on bail but re-arrested Tuesday for breaching his conditions.

Pervez is best known for his reputation as a landlord. In 2008, the 53-year-old was convicted in a $30 million mortgage fraud.

He’s also been accused of failing to maintain the many properties he owns. Two properties, which are attached to Pervez, have been declared unfit for human habitation.
