This is what the next generation of Google Glass looks like

Google may have killed the first version of Google Glass, but that doesn’t mean it’s done with the idea altogether. And as it turns out, the next generation of Google Glass might look just like the original.

The first images of the new Internet-connected glasses were uncovered in documents posted on the U.S. Federal Communications Commission website this week. While the design looks quite similar to the original Google Glass, it appears that the new version would be able to fold up like a regular pair of glasses, making them easier to store.

But interest in the Internet-connected glasses was high in 2013 when the tech giant launched the Glass Explorers program, designed for developers to test applications for the gadget. Glass made headlines for making strides in health care but also raised questions about distracted driving.

The FCC even released a short “user manual” for the new device, stating that the power button has been moved to the back of the device and the camera now features a green light to show that the camera is being used. This feature is likely meant to address some of the privacy concerns raised about the original Glass design.

The original device did not have a camera indicator light, causing concerns that people would be recorded without their knowledge.

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the next version of Google Glass – dubbed the “Enterprise Edition” – will be aimed at business users instead of the average consumer.
