Woman’s death north of downtown Edmonton ruled homicide

EDMONTON – A woman’s death north of downtown over the weekend has been ruled a homicide by Edmonton police.

Police have identified the victim as 28-year-old Yvette Lydia Morin.

Police were called to the area of 107 Avenue and 106 Street at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday when they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound in a basement apartment suite.

Paramedics were called to the scene and the woman was taken to hospital, where she died of her injuries, according to police.

Morin’s death is Edmonton’s 27th homicide of 2015.
