All it took was one glance at Santa Claus’ beard for a young Texas girl to realize she was looking right at Jolly Old St. Nick.
Aria Sandoval was at a local Walmart last week with her mom and eight-year-old sister when she saw “Santa” shopping, just like her family was doing.
And in fact “Santa” – whose real name is Al Hill – does work as Kris Kringle every year but was off that day. Hill told KAMR people don’t usually notice he’s Santa unless he’s dressed up in his red holiday suit.
The items Hill gave Sandoval turned out to be candy canes.
Sandoval’s mom, Ana-Marie, said she’s thankful for Hill’s kind reaction to her daughter.

“There’s just so many bad things going on in the world today, that just a simple act of kindness like that… reassures you that there’s still good people,” she said.
Hill said he enjoys being Santa.
“Being Santa in general makes me happy all year round because I have something to look forward to,” said Hill to KAMR.
So how did Sandoval realize it was St. Nick doing some holiday shopping?
“Because of his long beard,” she told KAMR.
