WINNIPEG — Officers have arrested and charged two men in the killing of a 36-year-old man early Saturday morning in Osborne Village.

It happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. in the 400 block of Stradbrook Avenue. Emergency crews had rushed to the area where they found Paul Joseph Thorne suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital in critical condition where he later died in hospital.

Officers released details Monday morning indicating the victim was with two other people behind a Stradbrook business for a pre-arranged meeting where criminal activity is suspected. That’s when the group met with two men and a dispute broke out, followed by a gunshot.

The suspects fled. Police have now arrested and charged Devvin James Worthington, 23 and Christian Abraham Boyd, 24 with second degree murder, as well as several breaches and firearm related offences.

Both men were remanded into custody.
