Some employees with the City of Calgary’s Parks maintenance and operations are worried that budget cuts could be catching up to us, saying we may not be able to maintain our beloved parks.
Budget cuts mean a $2.4 million shortfall for the City’s Park’s maintenance operations over the next two years.

The cuts and subsequent changes are a concern for some city residents.

“Absolutely, I would like to see my tax dollars go into things such as this. We put money into lots of other things, I don’t understand why we wouldn’t want to put it into our parks, our youth and our environment,” says Laura Granberg, a local teacher.
The issue goes before a city committee Wednesday morning.
Calgary has 8,000 hectares of parks and even won a national away for our city parks, just last year.
