HALIFAX – Eddie Robar, director of Halifax Transit is leaving his position to take a new job as the Branch Manager for Edmonton Transit, the City of Halifax confirmed on Monday.
Robar will be gone from the post by the end of the year and the city says they will start looking for someone to fill the job immediately so there will be overlap for the incoming director.

Robar’s resignation comes in the midst of a major Halifax Transit overhaul which is slated to see route redesign, updated technology and improvements to infrastructure.

Robar became the Transit director in 2011, leading negotiations with the Amalgamated Transit Unit and securing an agreement to improve transit for customers. He also oversaw the re-branding of Halifax Transit.
He started working with transit almost 14 years ago, taking his first job as a scheduler.
