DOHA, Qatar – Canada’s Becky Richter captured bronze in the women’s T51 club throw at the world Paralympic track and field championships Saturday. The Saskatoon native threw 15.11 metres, and had mixed feelings about her performance.
“I have definitely thrown better this year but I am very happy I was able to hold it together for the bronze medal,” she said.

Virginia McLachlan of Windsor, Ont., was sixth in the T35 200 metres.
“It was a season’s best. I am happy with it but I see what these girls can do. I have a lot of work to do to get back to a medal position. I have the 100-metres next week and I am hoping for a medal there,” McLachlan said.
Ilana Dupont of Saskatoon was sixth in the T53 100 metres, while Jessica Frotten of Whitehorse was eighth.
Ness Murby of Salt Spring Island, B.C., who won silver in the F11 javelin earlier in the meet, finished sixth in the discus. Marissa Papaconstantinou, a 16-year-old from Toronto, was seventh in the T44 200 metres.
