A Winnipeg Jet has been nominated for an award handed out to a player who demonstrates sportsmanship and dedication in the National Hockey League.
The Winnipeg Jets announced Tuesday Jim Slater is up for the Bill Masterton Trophy. The 29-year-old player has been actively involved in the community, launching Take Jim Slater to Work Day. Over 6,500 individuals applied to take Slater to their workplace.

On the ice, Slater has earned 17 points (10 goals, seven assists).
The trophy is in honour of the late Bill Masterton who died in 1968 after an injury while playing for the Minnesota North Stars.
The award will be handed out by the NHL at the annual awards banquet in Las Vegas on June 20.
