Cyclist dies after being struck by propane truck Wednesday morning

HALIFAX – A 49-year-old woman has died after being struck by a propane truck while riding a bicycle in Halifax on Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the collision shortly after 8:30 a.m.

The cyclist was treated by emergency crews but police say she died at the scene.

“Right now it is a fatal motor vehicle collision, the 49-year-old female cyclist died as a result of her injuries at the scene,” said Cst. Stacey Opalka with the Halifax Regional Police.

The woman’s name has not yet been released.

Police are still investigating what caused the collision. They are asking any witnesses to come forward with any information.
