Edmonton gas station robbery turns violent

EDMONTON – A suspect was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery that resulted in a gas station clerk being taken to hospital.

A man robbed a Husky gas station near 61 Street and 101 Avenue Monday afternoon allegedly with a weapon.

Police and EMS arrived and found an injured store clerk inside the gas station, as well as several witnesses.

“It looks like there was a scuffle that occurred and the subject went behind the counter and then injuries were sustained by the clerk at the store,” said EPS Acting Staff Sgt. Ron Smithman.

About an hour and a half later, police arrested a suspect near 101 Street and Jasper Avenue.

The clerk was taken to hospital with what police believe was serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

Leyion Twoyoungmen, 20, is facing charges of robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, and breach of probation.

Twoyoungmen is an Edmonton resident.
