The 31-year-old was shot and killed in front of her home after finishing a shift at the Cheers nightclub in Delta on September 22, 2005.

Police believe she drove by herself to her home in the 1400-block of West 53rd in Vancouver. She never made it inside. Monzon was fatally shot as she sat in the driver’s seat of her Honda Civic sometime between 4 and 6 a.m. Investigators believe the shooting was targeted but they don’t have a motive.

As a bartender at several local nightclubs, Monzon served customers with gang connections. Police say she may have been killed for knowing too much.

Sister Maria Franco described Monzon as someone with a generous nature and a zest for life. She hopes someone will come forward.

“I can’t comprehend how anyone can go on knowing what they may have seen, what they’ve done. It’s just plain cruel,” she said.

Anyone with information about Monzon’s death is asked to call police or, if they wish to remain anonymous, visit bccrimestoppers.com or call 1-800-222-8477.
