On Thursday, police identified the victim as 24-year-old Chelsea Serpentini-Harty.
Investigators have charged Serpentini-Harty’s boyfriend Jonathan Edward Martin, 26, with first-degree murder.
The couple had only been dating for about a month but lived together at the Pineridge residence where she was found dead.
Neighbours said they had seen police at the couple’s duplex several times before, but police clarified on Thursday their presence was not because of Martin and Serpentini-Harty.
“Police had not been called in relation to that couple,” said S/Sgt. Colin Chisholm. “Police have been called to that residence for other individuals on unrelated matters.”
Investigators believe alcohol may have been involved in the incident.
Anyone who may have information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
