Boundaries: A largely rural riding in southwest Ontario, Chatham-Kent-Leamington is bordered by Lake Erie to the south, the Thames River to the north (excluding the city of Chatham), the town of Leamington to the west, and the Chatham-Kent border to the east.

Last Election: Van Kesteren defeated NDP candidate Ron Franko by 27.5 per cent.

History: The area has been somewhat of a bellwether riding over the years, as Chatham-Kent-Essex and its predecessor riding of Kent elected a candidate from the party forming government in 10 of the last 11 elections, with the 1988 election of Liberal MP Rex Crawford the only outlier.
