MONTREAL – Hundreds flooded Sun Youth on Tuesday for the first day of the organization’s annual clothing drive.

It’s a two day event that hands out adult clothing and footwear to those in need.

“With the school year approaching, it’s a tough time for many families financially,” said Sun Youth’s Eric Kingsley.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

The most in-demand items are warm pants, footwear and winter clothing.

“I’m a new immigrant. My husband is still studying here and [this organization] has helped so much with clothing, food – just daily life,” said Nadia Karam, who was there with her son to pick up some much-needed cold-weather gear.
