But the BQ are putting up a fight, running Mario Beaulieu, a former party leader who was divisive within his party, but who has the support of both Parti Québécois leader Pierre Karl Peladeau and former Quebec Premier Bernard Landry.
Boundaries: This Montreal riding includes Montreal-East, part of Riviere-des-Prairies–Pointes-aux-Trembles, and part of Mercier–Hochelaga–Maisonneuve.
Last Election: In 2011, NDP Ève Péclet won the seat against BQ Ginette Beaudry by 7,558 votes.
History: This area of Montreal is traditionally the power base of the sovereignty movement. It was considered one of the Bloc’s safest ridings before the NDP upset in 2011.
