REGINA – The man charged with the first degree murder of a McLean woman earlier this month is now facing a new charge of uttering threats against a separate individual.
John Robert Strang is accused of murdering Lisa Strang in their residence in McLean on August 1st.
The pair were in a relationship at the time of her death.
On Thursday, Strang made his first appearance in a Regina courtoom.
In addition to first-degree murder, Strang is charged with uttering deaths threats against another person in Rockford, Saskatchewan in July.
When the judge read those charges, Strang said “Well that’s a new one.”
He showed no emotion as the judge read his original murder charge, but nodded to his parents as he was taken away by security.
His parents declined an interview.
Strang was back in court via CCTV on Friday, represented by defence lawyer Brian Smith. Smith told the court Strang will not be applying for bail.
The autopsy to determine Lisa Strang’s cause of death was completed Thursday, the details have not been released to media.
