Summary: The Liberal Party’s only seat in Saskatchewan, longtime MP Ralph Goodale seeks victory in southeast Regina for an eighth straight election.
Boundaries: All parts of Regina east of Albert Street and south of the CP rail line. The riding used to contain a number of small towns to the southeast of the city, but they have been removed through redistribution.
Last Election: Deputy Liberal Leader Ralph Goodale defeated Conservative candidate Ian Shields by 3.9 per cent.
Had the riding’s new boundaries existed in the last election, Goodale would have won with the slightly larger margin of 6.1 per cent (based on polling results).
History: Goodale has held this seat since 1993, but the Conservatives/Canadian Alliance were able to get within two thousand votes in both the 2000 and 2011 elections.
Demographics: The riding, which includes the University of Regina, has an average income of $48,553, the highest of the three Regina electoral districts.
